Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 July 2026
This policy is short because the honest answer is short: your resume data stays on your device. Here is exactly what happens to every piece of information.
1. Your resume data
Everything you type into the builder — your name, contact details, work history, photo, and settings — is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is not transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. We cannot read it, and we could not hand it to anyone else even if asked, because we never receive it.
2. Imported files
When you import an old resume (PDF or DOCX), the file is read and parsed entirely by code running in your browser. The file is never uploaded anywhere.
3. Spell check and ATS check
The spell checker downloads its dictionaries from our server once, then runs entirely on your device — the words you type are never sent to us. The ATS keyword check compares your resume and a pasted job description locally, in your browser.
4. Your account
The beta sign-up (name and email) is also stored locally in your browser and is used to pre-fill your resume. It is not sent to a server. If we introduce real accounts later, this policy will be updated first and you'll be asked before anything changes.
5. What we can see
Standard web server logs (pages requested, rough timing) when you load the site, like every website on the internet. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage to save your resume, your settings and your language choice on your device. We don't use tracking cookies.
7. Deleting your data
Because everything lives in your browser, deletion is in your hands: the Clear button in the builder removes your resume, and clearing site data for theresumelab.co in your browser removes everything, instantly and completely.
8. Contact
