Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 July 2026
These terms are written to be read. The Resume Lab is a resume builder that runs in your browser; using it means you agree to the terms below.
1. The service
The Resume Lab lets you create, edit and download resumes. The service is currently in beta and provided free of charge. Features may change, improve, or occasionally break while we build — we'll do our best, but beta means beta.
2. Your content
Everything you type or upload — your resume text, your photo, imported files — belongs to you. It is stored in your own browser, not on our servers, and we claim no rights over it whatsoever.
Because your data lives on your device, you are responsible for backing it up (downloading a PDF is the easiest backup). Clearing your browser storage deletes your resume, and we cannot recover it — we never had it.
3. Acceptable use
Use The Resume Lab to represent yourself truthfully. Don't use it to impersonate others, to fabricate credentials, or to generate documents for fraudulent purposes. Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or resell the service as your own.
4. Our content
The Resume Lab name, design, templates and software are ours. You're welcome to use the templates for your own resume — that's the point — but you may not extract and redistribute them as a competing template product.
5. Company names and logos
Company names and logos that appear on our site identify organisations to which real applications have been submitted using resumes built on The Resume Lab. They do not imply endorsement of The Resume Lab by those organisations.
6. No guarantees about outcomes
A good resume improves your odds; it doesn't control hiring decisions. We make no promises that using The Resume Lab will result in interviews, offers, or employment. Guidance in the product (ATS checks, scores, suggestions) is informational, not professional careers advice.
7. Warranty and liability
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the same extent, our liability for any claim connected to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it — which, during the beta, is zero.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest revision; continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. This document is a plain-language beta agreement, not a substitute for legal advice.
